How not to lose Lion during a Snow Leopard migration

I am in the process of getting a new Mac air to replace an
older Mac Pro. The problem is that the old machine is running
Snow Leopard and the new will have Lion. When I use migration
assistant to transfer data to the new computer will I lose
Lion or does it ignore a “lesser” OS?

Migration assistant will take your user account, including documents and settings, from one computer to another. It doesn't replace the operating system. So after using migration assistant to move your account, the system will remain Lion.
