Forum Question: How to compress to DVPAL in MPEG Streamclip?

Gary, need your help urgently,

I’m on a deadline to submit a short film for a festival which I shot in HD 1080 but which they want in DV PAL format AND less than 100 mB. I’ve used mpeg streamcip but the file is compressing to 229 MB, whether I choose 100% quality or 50% quality! And the limit date rate checkbox is greyed out for most formats except HD. Any workaround?

I don’t have any experience with exporting to DV-PAL format. Maybe try posting to a video editors forum or an MPEGStreamClip forum? I tried it in QuickTime 7 Pro for you and I didn’t get any bit rate options for DV-PAL either. It might not be something you can set for DV-PAL format.
At the same time I’d email or call the festival people and ask them for clarification — explain your issue. Maybe there is another format they will accept or maybe they can clarify things.
