On Pages 09, I have a bunch of points and random facts, separated by paras. I want to number the paras but when I highlight all and generate the Number List, it marks the blank spaces between text paras as numbers as well. I could, of course, keep deleting the blank paras one by one and customise the spacing thereafter and generate list, but I have loads & loads of entries collected over time. Is there a shorter way to do this?

So you want to interrupt your numbered list with regular paragraphs? You'll need to do that manually. There'd be no way that Pages would know which paragraphs are to be numbered and what are not.
You could always insert the non-numbered paragraphs as boxes of text instead of inline text. But that could create other problems.
