How To Wipe Clean an Older iMac ?

donating my 2010 iMac with Mountain Lion to my church. What steps to take to ensure all information is cleared.

    First, sign out of everything. iTunes, etc. Then you need to boot to the recovery mode. To do that, restart and hold down Command+R until you are in the recovery mode. Then use Disk Utility to wipe the drive. You can also re-install OS X in recovery mode. You can do that yourself, or let the church do it so they can use their own Apple ID and set it up properly.
