Locked out of my own computer

I must have inadvertently change my Name and password and cannot access Macbook. I have tried every combination but cannot find a way back in.
Any suggestions? I bought it 4 years ago and didn’t receive the original OS disc.
Your help would be appreciated.

Bad deal buying a computer (used?) and not getting the original system restore disc. It is like buying a car with the front hood sealed.
You can buy a Snow Leopard upgrade disc and use that to erase and restore the computer.
But if you need to get data of of it (you don't because you were doing backups right?) then you should take it to a shop/expert for help.
