Mac App Store…….gifting an App?

Does anyone know if it’s possible to ‘gift’ an App from within the Mac App Store in the way I could with the iTunes Store?

    I don't think it is possible, yet. But you can buy iTunes gift cards -- those will work in the App Store too.

    I tried to gift an app from my ipad and it will not automatically use my credit from my gift card on my account.
    Any suggestions?
