Malware definitions updates

Macmost #152 Sept. 29, 2011 said Malware definitions for Snow Leopard and Lion are updated automatically every day. When I ask for software updates it usually says no new software. My automatic check is set for weekly. How do we get daily updates, and know that we have them?

Yes, they occur daily. But they are not soft are updates so they don't appear there. It is just a database of malware "definitions" that get updated. So every day your Mac checks for new definitions and adds them. It is done silently.
