Mini Display Port to VGA Adaptor Setup with Macbook Alum

Hello,

Just recently purchased the Mini Display Port to VGA adapter and wanted tips in setting it up and using it with a Sony LCD with a VGA port. I have a Macbook Aluminum.

Love the new iPad book. Picked it up on my Kindle.

Thanks

— Erick

What sort of tips? I would just try to hook it up. Are you having problems when you do so?

    Hi Gary,

I've hooked up the connector, however the screen displays an OSX background(purple screen) and my desktop on the macbook is different. Is their a keyboard toggle command (which I've done on a windows machine) or should the mac detect the new screen. In a nutshell I just want more screen real estate when not mobile. Also searching the apple help/support pages indicates their is an update from 2009 available, though I imagine the adapter should be update as it was just purchased.

Thanks and sorry for being long winded here!

    Thanks again Gary,

I think this is just what the Dr. ordered. Appreciate your help!

I don't know that projector specifically, but it should just work. Have you tried going to System Preferences, Displays and playing with the controls. Turn mirroring on and off, change settings, etc.
