Gary how is that the MobileMe Calendar is being synced with the server and my iCal on my iMac, even though I switched off the setting system preferences of mobileme ?
Sounds little weird ! Actually it works better with the System Pref Setting set to OFF ! That is, nothing in system preferences for mobileme is checked mark to sync. And the calendar syncs fine. When I had checked it I would get lots of Duplicates and missing entires in either place too !

My guess is that is because you are using a MobileMe calendar.
You see, you can have a calendar that is "On My Mac" and set that to sync between Macs using MobileMe as a go-between. But the calendars are just "On My Mac" and then synced between computers.
However, I'm guessing that you are using a MobileMe calendar. It is "on MobileMe" and you can access it completely in the MobileMe web interface if you like. Then, in addition, you can access it in iCal.
Go to iCal and choose File, New Calendar. You can see both options there.
Then all of your calendars should be listed on the left as either "On My Mac" or "Mobile Me."
So you actually aren't using Mobile syncing. You are accessing a MobileMe (on the MobileMe server) calendar using iCal instead of a web browser.
Yes but earlier we used to just set the options that wanted to sync with MobileMe, in the system preferences by check marking them and uncheck those we didn't want to sync.
Now unchecking calendar in sys pref, also continues to sync the calendar. Something has changed.
Yes, but MobileMe changed. They rolled out a big change to calendars some time back to make them more like IMAP or Exchange calendars (on the server).
Also do you think icloud would change mobilme drastically and hopefully for the better ?
I'm eagerly awaiting the WWDC infriductions!
Hard to say. No need to speculate as we'll know on Monday.
