I have a MB Pro and just got the facetime app. We just got an ipad2 and also have the facetime app. I personally have an apple ID for itunes and the app store, but my wife does not. Do we need separate ID’s to facetime each other on our devices? if so how does she get her own id? and then do you have to log in with your specific id on the specific device your using so we can facetime each other?

You can set it up to use an email address as the "phone number" for FaceTime. On the iPad, for instance, go into Settings, FaceTime and you can see that you can Add Another Email... Play around with that and you should be able to call each other.
Thanks Gary,
Sorry to be a newby, but when i ad another email address its said add another address "YOU" can be reached at. So i have been playing with it and i dint understand how it recognizes who is calle who. For example, if i click on theresa email from the ipad it said scott is calling theresa. If i click on my email address it sais scott is calling scott. I have the only apple id. Also i can not even get the two to connect to each other when the units are side by side. Always said one or the other is busy or unavailable.
?????
OK, then. Why not just get another Apple ID for her? A simple enough solution.
Not need other ID only other e mail ..... Gmail. O yahoo mail. (Hotmail adress not work)
