i put in a cutaway from my b roll and when i play back the video my audio changes. audio sounds like it’s comming from my b roll camera. i thought my audio would stay constant when i do the 2nd camera cutaway.

Just select the cut-away video. Press A to edit the audio. Lower the volume to nothing.
