No more save as for videos

hi Gary, in snow leapord I was able to download a flv video to save on my computer for later watching, I was able to right click it, and click open with- quick time player, then I was able to save it (file, save as ) a quicktime movie. In lion that disappeared, I only see (file, duplicate) when I duplicate it and go to save it sometimes it can save it and sometimes it says it cannot be saved. Do you know of another way? I can convert them in handbrake, but the other way was just faster.

It sounds like you had some sort of browser extension for doing that. Being able to save flv videos is not something you can do without one.
So it is a matter of finding out which extension or whatever you were using and try to get an update.
Of course, taking flv files from video pages is probably not the best way to do it. If the video creator wants his or her videos to be downloaded like that, they would usually make them downloadable directly. Like MacMost does through the video podcast. Otherwise, you have to assume it is against the creator's wishes to do this (and a copyright violation too).

Im not doing anything wrong, I like to download your videos, then watch them at my leasure, or put them on my iPad, for when I'm away, its for my own watching later. but they download as a flv file, and I used to be able to convert them with file save as, but the save as disappered,I just wanted to know if there was another way, because I like watching them on my iPad.

If you want to watch them on your iPad, then subscribe to the podcast. That's exactly why I have the podcast. See the link to the left.

Right, but if your on the plane or away you need a connection, this way you sync it with good reader and you can watch it anytime. That is how I learnt so much from all your podcasts.you've taught me a lot, and I don't have so much time to watch it from home.
          Thanks anyway
