Problems with Time Machine

Hi, I have a problem where Time Machine starts to backup and backs up about 25GB or so. it stops abruptly and looks like it is done, however has not backed up most of the data. There is over 750GB that i need to backup. I have been using SuperDuper in the meantime however this only backup when i remember to do it and i prefer Time Machine. I have re formatted the external USB drive over and over to get it working with no luck. any help you can offer would be appreciated. i have also tried t backup from a new user profile with no success

I'm not sure how to advise you here. I've never heard of an issue like this before. Are you letting Time Machine format the drive, or are you doing it in Disk Utility? I'd let Time Machine do it.
It could be that the drive is bad -- have you tested it in Disk Utility?

If I remember right, there was an issue some time ago that caused Time Machine to choke on a bad file. If you look at Time Machine's logs you may be able to see where it is stopping and then look at the file where it stops.

Admittedly this is a shot in the dark and I can't say I can give you any better detail that that. I seem to remember reading about this on the Apple support boards shortly after I got Leopard - which would be nearly two years ago now - when I was having issues with an incomplete backup.
