Should I Convert Microsoft-docs To Apple

To ensure my old Word and Excel docs open and are editable in the all-64-bit environment later in 2019, should I convert them to Pages or Numbers now?

I don’t see any reason to convert them for that reason. Doc and docx formats are so widely used that I don’t see support for them ending any time soon. There are tons of apps, including Pages that will open them. Even Google docs.

64-bit really has nothing to do with file formats. I guess if you have an old version of Microsoft Word, and it won’t be compatible past Mojave, then it will be tougher to deal with those documents unless you update your copy of Word. But it won’t change the fact that you can open them in other things. And you can always decide to update Word. I mean if you found it valuable enough to buy before, and it has been years, then why not buy a newer version at some point?
