I tried the free trial of MobileMe months ago, decided against it and now can’t get rid of error messages that linger. Error messages pop up that say “You entered an invalid MobileMe member name or password. Verify your MobileMe member name and password in MobileMe system preferences.” Thanks for any help. I have tried quite a few suggestions from the internet and nothing does the trick.

Go to System Preferences, MobileMe. Then sign out.
Go to Mail and remove any MobileMe (me.com or mac.com) email account that is associated with the dead MobileMe account.
Go to iCal and also remove any MobileMe account in the preferences.
Thanks for the info. I checked all 3 of those places and there wasn't any thing there MobileMe related. Any other ideas? I use this computer to sync my iPhone, could that be the problem?
When, exactly, so the error messages appear. And what, exactly, do they say?
They appear randomly, but it shows the "sync" icon. It says, "You entered an invalid MobileMe member name or password. Verify your MobileMe member name and password in MobileMe System Preferences."
It has to be in those System Preferences, MobileMe panes then. Did you check every pane? Check each and every setting there. Do you have multiple user accounts on that Mac? Perhaps another user account has MobileMe system preferences set.
