Gary, I want to backup my photos, I found the original and modified folders. The photos in iphoto (originals and modified) are in the two folders?

Just back up your entire iPhoto library file. This is usually found in your user/Pictures folder -- though you can choose to put it elsewhere. Better yet, just back up your Pictures folder to include other things as well.
And you mean Archive, not backup, right? You should use Time Machine (or something similar) to backup your entire drive. But it isn't a bad idea to save out an archive of your Picture folder to another location from time to time.
