I noticed that Typing XLS in the Finder Window spotlight shows me around 670 els files but when i click ALL MY FILES it shows me 470 files.
What is the difference between the two options ? does All My Files search fewer areas of the computer ?

Not sure what the difference could be. Maybe look into which ones are there for each search and try to find a common difference.
I thought they said it's all "your" files. Leaving out system, library, and such files
Michael I typed XLS that is are spreadsheet files...I don't think there are any Mac Os system files with the XLS extension. still I see many more XLS files when clicking THIS MAC rather than ALL MY FILES !
