Too Dark MacBook Display Through Projector

As of late ( just since the last OS update, I think ) when running a keynote presentation through projectors my dark slides appear too dark and print on the same becomes illegible . I have read lots of presumed workarounds addressing this problem on other forums, but, come on ! Won’t Apple address this issue with another update, since the last one appears to have caused the issue in the first place ? We have two feeds to each ( dual) projector and my PC toting counterparts show me up all the time with perfectly normal displays while my Macbook goofs up darker images. And, yes, I changed my display gamma back to 1.8 ( from default 2.2) and it doesn’t help.
So….Help!

I don't have any advice for you here. I have a projector to test on, and I definitely don't have a way to do a comparison between Mac and PC over a projector to see the difference.
A search turned up some info here, but I'm not sure if this will help:

I too am having real issues with 'too dark' projection form a macbook pro using keynote. Something has changed recently since presentations that used to be fine are now almost too dark to use. Since presentations are 'my life' this is a real problem for me. Doing all the expert calibration has not helped, and I am having to convert a hundreds of talks to PC based powerpoint when speaking to audiences over 250. I love my mac and keynote but this has to be solved.
