I bought my macbook in 2009 and sometimes when I open up iMovie it suggests I upgrade to iLife 11, so I clicked on the link recently and it says I can upgrade to iLife 11 for $6.99 but only if I bought my computer on or after Oct, 20 2010. But I remember seeing this upgrade popup on my computer way before that date. Is there a way around this so I can get the upgrade cheap? Thanks.

No, it doesn't sound like it. But iLife costs only $49 as a package. It is very cheap in my opinion, compared to what you get with it.
