Uploading Pics To Facebook From iPhone 4S?

On the iPhone 4S, there is a generic menu that appears when you hit the little arrow icon at the bottom of each photo. The menu has a bar to press if you wish to upload the pic to Twitter. Is there a way to add a bar to press to upload the pic to Facebook?

No, no way to add one there. Twitter is there because Twitter has been integrated into the Photos app as a service. But Facebook isn't.
The way to get the same functionality with Facebook is simply use the official Facebook app. One of the many things it does is to allow you to choose a photo from the same photos you see in the Photos app and upload it to Facebook with a comment, etc.

As popular as Facebook is, I would think they would've added a bar to upload pics to Facebook but I guess not. I'll load the Facebook app and go that route.
    Thanks Gary!

I don't understand how to post pics from my photos on the iPhone 4s to FB. Can you give me step by step instructions please.

Are you using the Facebook App? If so, it is pretty straight-forward. If not, step 1 is to "get the Facebook app."

Please explain in greater detail how to put my photos from my IPhone 4S to Facebook. I read the above instructs but still not clear on just how to do this. I'm not a real technology pro and need your help! Thanks so much!!! Please do reply and help me!
      Thanks again!

This forum thread is from before iOS 6. With iOS 6 on the iPhone 4S it is much easier. Now you just go to the Photos app, view a photo, and then tap the share button. Facebook should be one of the options. If not, then go to Settings and make sure that you have filled in the Facebook ID and password.

I am very disappointed that you can't post a pic to FB directly from the menu bar. I recently bought the 4s, my first iPhone previously having a droid & so far it is an overall disappointment. My 3 yr old droid was faster & easier to use :/

My BlackBerry was much easier to use too. I can't stand typing in the iPhone and miss being able to post pics directly to FB.

My wife got her first iPhone this week and we are very disappointed. It's not as integrated as our droids. Everything takes more steps and fewer free apps. Droids seem to be a lot more user friendly. Gonna try to see If jailbreaking helps, If not eBay here it comes.

Integrated with what? Facebook? Have you tried the Facebook app?

Kendra I am SO hearing you!
I recently got a 4S & this is my first iPhone to - previously had a 2 yr old HTC Desire - & the only way to describe how I'm feeling about it is 'gutted'. This is THE most disappointing phone I've ever had the misfortune to have & it will make me avoid Apple products for a long time to come.
Why is everything SO difficult or totally impossible?
You can't upload photos straight from your phone, you can't share You Tube videos directly from the provided app, there's no flash player, their Facebook app will give you notifications but won't update, SIRIs rubbish (it is still telling me that I "have no contact for Mum & Dad" when I DO!! I've checked it a thousand times!! It's there!)
These are just a few of the thousand & one things that the great iPhone just can't do & there hasn't been a day go by since I've got it that I don't discover another.
iPhone? Really?? A massive example of the success of branding over substance - you really CAN sell rubbish if you make it look cool & desirable.

        Just to clarify some points:
        1. You certainly can upload photos to Facebook directly from your phone. You just need to use the Facebook app. And in iOS 6 (coming soon) you can do it from the photos app as well.
        2. You certainly can upload videos directly to YouTube. Right from the Photos app. Take a video, upload it. So I'm not sure what you mean there.
        3. There is no more mobile Flash player on ANY mobile device. There was one for Android for a while (and it was poor quality in many ways) but Adobe has stopped making it.

I'm also disappointed it was much easier to upload picts from my blackberry, write messages, send group messages etc.... You should consider to add some blackberry features...

miss being able to add photos directly to FB, didnt think I liked my blackberry until I got the iphone 4s.

What's wrong with using the Facebook app for this? Not sure I get what the problem is here.
BTW, if the issue is you want to take a picture and then upload to Facebook without switching apps, then you have two options:
      1. Use the Facebook app to take a picture -- just press the photo button.
      2. Use a third-party photography app that supports directly sending to Facebook.

I had a cricket droid phone and switched to iPhone 4s. It took me some getting used to, I love my iPhone. So far, I only wish i could upload my pics without having to open fb app. It was simpler.

You can only upload ONE picture at a time, that's the first problem. The second issue I am having, as I believe everyone else is, is with the option to "Tweet" a photo directly from the menu bar of a picture, but not to "Facebook" the picture. It doesn't make any sense to me since Facebook seems to be the most popular photo sharing social site?

3 year old Droid much easier for Facebook and also easier to read articles. So far very disappointed in iPhone 4s. As popular as Facebook is why is iPhone so archaic in making Facebook easier to access. I'm dumping my week old iPhone. Going back to Droid

What's wrong is that Apple wants to control the experience and make it difficult to use competitors, FB in this case. I don't want to have to log into FB to post pics to it.

You would need to log into FB to post pics to it -- of course! Otherwise anyone can post pics to your account. The question is whether the Camera app has this ability, or whether you need to use FB's app. It is so easy to do it in FB's app I'm not sure what the problem is. You can even take pictures directly in the FB app.

I hate the FB app, and the fact that you have to post the pictures into status updates. Why can't you just add them to your albums???

Perhaps there is another app that does what you need. Try searching for one. Also, try giving feedback to Facebook. Tell them to improve their app if that is what you want.

I just got my IphoneS and still learning it but so far I am thrilled with it. I have had droids and Blackberry's and I like both of them but this Iphone tops them for sure. As far as not being able to post pictures straight from your photo album to fb. It takes all of 2 seconds to open FB and click on add picture in the status. I am going out on a limb here and going to say that it is fB app not Iphone that is the issue. Maybe they will get it all to work as we are used to but if not its not a big complaint for me.

i am having issues uploading pictures from my iphone 4s to facebook, i go through all the steps and hit UPLOAD and the bar goes all the way across but the pitcure is never actually uploaded into the album. Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it? THANKSSS

I can't believe this phone doesn't have a feature to upload a photo to Facebook. My last phone was easier too. The reason why we don't like to use the fb app is because it takes extra steps & I thought since this is one of most expensive phones I ever had I wouldn't have to worry about it. O still like this phone but it could've been so much better. Almost every other phone has it & I think some one dropped the apple on this one. :/

It does. In the FB app. Just use the FB app instead of the Camera app. It really doesn't require any extra steps -- if the Camera app did it you'd still need some extra steps so FB knew what to do with your photo (album, wall, text, etc).

Gary- Not everyone wants to use the Facebook app. You keep repeating yourself. People here are just wanting to be able use their camera and maybe later upload to facebook. Nothing wrong with that.

Just trying to answer everyone's questions. I realize that people would like to post from the Camera app, but that functionality just isn't there. Not my call. I'm just trying to suggest the best alternative.

I also used to be able to send pics to my moble facebook number but lately they dont post. I just open facebook mobile on my iphone and hit add photo at top, you can tag and write stuff too. It is one more step than snap and send, but its quick too.

I am having the same problem as ericka above. I DO have the facebook app. I go through the steps to upload. The upload bar runs, as if it is working - and the, no photo. Just the caption I type in. This is really annoying: I loved my 3gs, but the 4s won't upload photos to facebook, and it won't interact with my outlook calendar on my desktop, either. GRRRR. How does apple allow an iphone upgrade to actually get worse on basics?

This is definitely something apple needs to fix. This is probably the only thing I liked better on my droid. If you get the camera+ app you can load directly from the app to facebook and it is a better camera than the original phone camera, with lots of great editing options. I highly recommend it. I think it's $1.

I should have read this comment :) Camera+ does the trick and so much more. WAY better than Instagram (square *** photos), Snapseed, Hipstamatic, or native iPhone camera. $1 well spent!

I just want to have the photo show up in my FB stream instead of just as a link. Hootsuite will post a pic to Twitter and FB at the same time, but on FB it just shows up as a status with a URL to the picture. I want to be able to upload a photo to FB and post to Twitter at the same time without having to open two apps to do it. Any iPhone apps out there that will accomplish this? I don't mind using non-native features on my iPhone, I just don't like having to do things twice.

Steps to upload from camera app:
    1) Take picture/locate picture to be uploaded.
    2) Press menu button.
    3) (if it existed) Press "Upload to Facebook"
    4) Fill out applicable information.
    Done.

    Upload picture through Facebook App:
    1) Open Facebook app.
    2) Select post picture.
    3) Choose picture.
    4) Fill out applicable information.
    Done.

Clearly it takes no more work to upload from the Facebook app than it would to upload from the Camera app. Try suggesting to Facebook that they integrate themselves with the new iOS update that will come out along with the iPhone 5. It's not that difficult.

Also, Instagram makes it SUPER easy to upload to Facebook or Twitter, and you can choose filters for the images AND it has its own social networking "news feed" just for Instagram images.
There are steps you can take to avoid this issue other than complaining about it on a forum.

Can someone tell me why photos I crop using the iPhone editing options show up as the uncropped/unedited originals when I upload them to Facebook from my iPhone?

      Tujie

Perhaps the change is being made to the roll but the upload is from the unedited photo stream?

I don't think there is a camera icon. Just post a status update and choose to add a picture to it, like you would on a computer.

I also just got my first iPhone after owning a Droid for over two years and feel like I have been ripped off. What a piece of junk. The programmer writing the photo app for apple should be fired!! Anyone that does not realize that Facebook is the premiere social media website and should have been integrated into the photo app immediately has no business working in the IT field. Really feel like throwing my iPhone 4S across the room and into my pool. Just bought the A+ camera app that so far works 100% better than the piece of junk Apple camera app. Shame on Apple for hiring inferior app programmers.

The new OS (coming out later this month) will have this ability to post from Photos to Facebook. But it looks like you have already found a solution, and that is only one of many.

Wow. Just came out here for FB posting pics issue on my Iphone 4S with ios6. I see i'm not the only one very dissapointed with the Iphone. All I can say is I'm glad work purchased it and not me. Had a blackberry torch that was far easier to use and manage files. Iphone is horrible. I know now for my own phone I'll be going a different route. Itunes is NOT a file management tool.

This is an old post. This is no longer a problem with iOS 6 -- you can post directly to FB from the camera app now.

Both phones have advantages, I did like being able to batch click on many photos and do many things with them all at once. My i phone 4s with ios 6 does not have this functioality in the stock photo app.
I dig that the iphone works with most things
