uploading video from camera (still with video)

Hi,
Can video be brought into iMovie directly with the little video icon on the left side of the program connected to the camera? Or does it have to be brought in through either iPhoto or Aperture? I have a Canon 5DII and seem not to be able to use the little icon on left.

    Do you mean use the Finder to drag and drop a video file from the camera as a file. Yes, you should be able to do it if the camera shows up in the Finder and you can see files. Just look through there for the video files. Sometimes they are not in the obvious place on the camera's drive.
