Gary on using my iPhone 4 I noticed that on activation 3G from settings drops the signal bars to 2 or 3 bars from 5 bars. In tbe sane location if I turn 3G off, it goes back to full bars.
What Do I need to do ?

Are you using AT&T? Then if you turn 3G off, you are using their Edge network. So the bars would be different. You are switching between 3G and Edge when you use this switch.
There's nothing to do. That's the just the signal strength you get from 3G compared to Edge where you are standing.
And as long as you have bars you are fine. it is a digital connection. You have it or you don't. As long as you are not dropping calls, you have a connection no matter how many bars.
Very detailed answer as I am facing same problem in Dubai . Signal drops to two or three bars from full wen I turn on 3 g. If there is no use of signal strength in 3 g then why bars r used for it ?
Signal strength is still useful to tell how likely you are to continue getting service. But as long as you have 2 or 3 bars, you are fine. Don't stress about it.
I'm
In india and I am on Vodafone !
Thanks Gary !
Same applies.
Will voice call quity suffer if there is one bar for 3 g connection?
Maybe, if one bar is the average and you are really going between 0 and 2 bars. But what difference does it make? If you have 1 bar, you have 1 bar. Use it. It isn't like you can do something to get another bar.
