Using a game without the disk

I just bought Call of Duty 4 for mac, and it requires me to have the disk in. This is impractical and I have tried using disk utility and it turned into a disk mount instead of a cd. The only fix for this that I have seen is Toast, but I cannot shell out the $79 for it. How can I trick my mac into thinking that the disk is in when it is not?

If that is the way the game developers wanted it, then you are stuck with it. I'd complain to them -- the more the game developers hear that we don't want this kind of "copy protection" for our games, the less likely they will be to use it in the future.
On the other hand, it may not simply be copy protection. There may be data on the disk that the game needs to access. I don't know the specifics of that specific game.
Probably your best bet is to find a forum for that game and ask there. See if there is any other solution.
