Using Imovie 11 with beat cuts and multiple audio

I have been trying for days to figure this out. I am trying to do a memorial video comprised of stills and audio clips. I have figured out how to get the beat cuts to work, but what I cannot seem to get to work is being able to drop a second audio clip in behind the first one, and be able to slightly overlap them so I can have one song fade into the next. I have tried everything but it just won’t work for me. I have tried dropping the audio clip on the last photo, which looks like it wants to work (drops the new clip below the first) which does allow you to overlap them, but then when you drop more photos, the new song doesn’t follow the new project entries and nor does it follow the beat clips. Is this just not possible?

I've never tried to combine Beat Cuts and multiple overlapping sound. Why not just use the one soundtrack -- the one for Beat Cuts -- then export the movie and add your additional audio in a second round of editing. Or, better yet, add that audio using GarageBand. See episode 307: http://macmost.com/editing-a-video-soundtrack-in-garageband.html

      Hi Gary,
Thanks for the tips. I might try just creating each song as a clip, then re-import them into a single project like video clips.

      Cheers,

      John
