I have signed up for 1Password at least twice and paid for it but have had difficulty using the app and have cancelled twice. Only online support available and that has been marginal. Can someone recommend another password program?

I've been using 1Password for many years and love it. Sorry you have been having trouble.
So why not just use iCloud Keychain? It does everything most people need. As long as you don't need to use it on Android or Windows, iCloud Keychain is a good option. Plus integration with macOS and iOS is as tight as you can get.
