Where Can I Locate My Latest iPhone Backup On Catalina Without the iPhone?

HI Gary,

My iPhone 7’s power connector got messed up and now it’s not reading the charger cable; I’m down to 8% and there seems to be no way to sync and backup through wifi, since I never enabled it via USB after upgrading to Catalina.
I was anyway planning to buy the iPhone 11, so will do that; my question is – without access to the old phone, how do I find its latest backup on the mac so that I can load it onto the new iPhone?
Thanks in advance!

That's a tough one, because usually you connect your iPhone and then you can see the Device Backups for the connected iPhone in the Finder. But you can't do that if the iPhone's port is damaged.

You can look in ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/ to see what you have there, and check the dates on those folders to see the date of your last backup.

Either way, you should be fine getting a new iPhone. When you set it up it will ask you if you want to restore from a backup. Then you can connect it and select the backup from your old iPhone.

Thank you! I find that iCloud says it's got a backup from 2 days ago, so maybe I could use that to restore the new phone.
