MacOS 11.1 Brings New Features and Bug Fixes

Apple released the first major update to macOS Big Sur today. It is available in System Preferences, Software update for Macs already updated to Big Sur. Changes include support for the new AirPods Max headphones, updates to the TV app and more.

Notably, the Photos app now supports Apple ProRAW format, the App Store includes new privacy information for many apps, Safari adds Ecosia as a default search engine option, Maps adds air quality information, and there are new Notification Center widgets for the News app. For new M1 Macs, there are now more window sizing options for iOS and iPadOS apps.     Congratulations to the engineers who turned the search boxes on Outlook and Word from unsable dark blue at the initial rollout of Big Sur to the highly usable white today.
