It is probably the ultimate protection from an iPhone. You can also watch this video at YouTube (but with ads). Video Transcript: Hi, this is Gary. Today on MacMost Now, let's take a look at the king of iPhone cases. So most of you who have watched this show for a while know I have this thing about iPod and iPhone cases; most of them are pretty next to worthless. They're little more than scratch protection, and they won't stop you from dropping them, or, they won't stop them from breaking if you do drop them. But there are some exceptions, and of course my favorite exception is the Otterbox series; the Defender series. Now, I have one for my first-generation iPhone, and I'm so happy that I finally got mine for the 3G iPhone. So the case is this very strong polycarbonate shell. It surrounds the iPhone and snaps into place. Then there's this membrane, made of silicon, that fits all around it. Each one of the holes-- say, for the headphone jack, for the dock, even for the ringer switch-- uh, has a little cover that snaps kinda into place around it. It's got a cover for the screen and has a little glass windows for the camera, and for the little Apple logo. Here's a closer look; you can see that there's spots at the top for the earpiece and for the proximity sensors; you can see the area at the bottom where you can open it up for the dock... and at the top for the headphone as well. So the good part is: complete protection. It'll protect it from drops, it'll protect it from scratches. It'll protect your screen and it'll even protect it from moisture. And the belt clip is solid as well. But it's not perfect either. The screen protector creates a little bubble underneath it that can be annoying when doing something like watching a movie. Also, the belt clip can press up against your side a little bit. So if you're prone to dropping your iPhone a lot, or if you've got a line of work where you really need to protect your iPhone, then the Otterbox Defender is for you. You can get it for fifty bucks; you can find out more at otterbox.com.
