Google's Chrome browser is an interesting alternative to the pre-installed Safari browser. The address field and tabs behave differently and you can extend the browser using Google's web store. Take a look at Chrome and then check it out for yourself.

I use RockMelt at the moment for the included social features. RockMelt is Chromium based so it pretty much is Chrome with a few added features. I prefer Chrome for the extensions available but Safari for the UI and Topsites feature. If they ever release the Stylish extension for Safari then I'm going back and never switching. Unfortunately Safari is pretty much the ONLY web browser where it isn't easy to use custom user styles for websites.

I have at times tried both. I love the Safari Interphase that is very neat !
Speed wise as you said chrome seemed faster perhaps because it was the the new browser without history and caches.
But I would go with Safari any day !

I *love* Chrome. I was originally pressured into using it, but I'm glad that I was. Safari is okay, but native syncing is what keeps me as a Chrome user.

I agree. Reader is a cool little feature. Plus nobody does topsites quite like Safari. As I've said, if there was a Stylish for Safari then it'd be the only browser I'd ever use.

I much prefer chrome for its usability. I was an avid firefox user for a long time but tried chrome and made the switch. I mainly like the unified URL/search field rather than having to tab to a search box.
Although i am google for everything else so made sense to use the browser too.

For me Safari is very good and Chrome is a little better, in many ways. Most of all I like the syncing of Chrome across all three of the computers I use (work pc, home mac and bootcamp pc). It is very seamless. Some of the Chrome apps are fairly cool also.

We are senior's and virtually computer illiterate but do enjoy your video's tutorials and help features. I am confused about Chrome vrs. Safari? I used Safari and then downloaded Google Chrome to try. I now have Safari as well as Google Chrome on my dock and can load up either one. Safari indicates that it is running Google Chrome from it's home page but if I run Google chrome from the dock It is different with added features such as ( It remembers the font size I use (larger) because of our vision) and Safari does not seem to remember this also (the Tabs feature you showed in your Video only seems to be available on Google Chrome and not Safari running Chrome). My question is Are they all different? Safari, Safari running Chrome, and Google Chrome ?
I'm not sure what you are seeing as "Safari running Chrome" -- that doesn't make sense. Perhaps you are just using one or the other but it is showing you the homepage from Chrome?

Right now, on my Macs, my favorite browser is Firefox. What I particularly like about Firefox is its way of managing bookmarks, its many extensions, and the way it works nicely with Xmarks.
Having said that, I do try a variety of browsers in any given week, using and liking both Chrome and Safari too.

Any chance you could do a feature on iCab? It is my favourite browser.

We are firmly in the Safari camp (easy, reliable updates, rare to never crashes, READER!) Most Google apps I use are very attractive concepts and most functions, but keeping them up to date is not as easy as "Software Update". I tried Chrome briefly and the differences from Safari offered little to me other than another learning curve, which I would rather invest in other new and more different hardware of software.

The main reason I like to use Chrome as my favourite browser is the 2 in one search bar. It is so much easier to use, I wish safari would implement that.

Would like to try Chrome and also register at the itunes store but when I started reading the contract that you have to sign I got put off by the insistence of agreeing to allow them to nose around and spying into my oomputer. I use Safari most of the time, but when it gets hung up and never completes downloading a Youtube video, I use Firefox to be able to watch, such as this MacMost 526 right now.

I really like Chrome. I've tried Safari and did try to use it for a while, but kept coming back to Chrome. I like the tabs better on top. Easier to "unhook" tabs and browser windows and move them around. Love the search bar feature in address bar. I did notice that Chrome seems to crash once in a while and gotta kill the pages, but rare. Overall, like it, but still prefer the look and feel of Safari. If Safari had some of the same features, I'd switch back.

In trying to speed up my machine I noticed in my Activity Monitor Chrome & Safari are heavy users of Real Memory & Virtual Memory, is this correct? Are there other configurations of these browsers that use less memory or better use of memory?

Browsers will use a lot of memory, yes. But they will adjust depending on what you have available too. So I wouldn't focus on them too much.
Google Chrome seems to have little more snap to it. But I still use Safari sometimes. Nice video..
