The cost of an app can be hidden in in-app purchases and subscriptions. Some apps are genuinely free, others have an upsell, and some make money from you or using you in other ways. It can pay to go to the developer's site to find out more and look for free trial versions.

The red, yellow and green buttons allow you to close, minimize, and resize windows on your Mac. With macOS Sequoia, the green button in particular has a lot of functionality.
