I recently installed the facetime app. I have a MacBook Pro 5,5 (Mac OS X version 10.6.6). However, every time I try to launch the app I get the following message: “No video – facetime has not received any video from the connected camera. Restarting your computer may fix this issue.” I restarted the computer several times, but the issue still there. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Have you tried to use your camera with another application? Like Photo Booth? Or iMovie? Try that and see what happens.
Thank you for the advice Gary. I've been learning a lot with your videos. I just tried photo booth. It does the countdown but doesn't take the picture. Could be something related to my settings?
Did you try Photo Booth in video mode? That's what I meant. I just want you to test to see if you camera is working at all.
I tried photo booth movie and iMovie. I just get a black screen as captured image; maybe my camera is gone...
Yes. It is definitely a camera issue. I'd make a visit to the Genius Bar if you can.
Thank you Gary!
Please excuse me if this is a stupid suggestion as I'm still fairly new to Mac, but is it possible there is a setting that isn't correct?
I mean, could the OS have selected another input device other than the built in iSight camera and the setting needs to be changed to make it work?
No. FaceTime, Photo Booth and iMovie are set to use the built-in camera by default.
Ok. Thanks Gary.
My camera on facetime says camera not connected how do i fix it
please help
Hard to say what may be wrong. What happens if you try to record from your camera in iMovie? Or Photo Booth? Check those to see if there is a problem with your camera.
