Should I Download the Java Run-time Environment?

I am looking at LibreOffice to use for a database system. It’s free. Does anyone know of a free DB that can be put on a server and accessed by a few different people? The DB will probably have 500 records, 6 tables, 4 forms. Expect total size to be less than 1 meg.

So if, Libre is the answer, is it safe to download JRE? Thanks in advance.

Lots of people have the official JRE, either the one from Apple or the one from Oracle. There is a lot of software out there that requires it. Is it safe? Well, nothing is 100% safe, but it seems safe enough. I haven't had any issues.

As far as online databases are concerned, would a spreadsheet do? You can always use a Google Drive spreadsheet. For that matter, you can do an iCloud Numbers spreadsheet too. People can access it via the web and they don't even need to be on a Mac.

I'm sure there are many online database solutions. Some won't be free, and some won't be easy to use. So it really depends on your specific situation.
