Mailboxes in Mail have disappeared. How do I retrieve them?

Hard for me to guess why this may be happening. Mailboxes are a function of your email service provider. The problem could be on their end, or yours, or could simply be that you need to select View, Show Mailbox List because you have hidden them.
If that doesn't work, try removing the email account and adding it back again. But only if you are using IMAP email, as if you are using an acient POP email account that may delete all of your old messages.
