Leopard 10.5 and Snow Leopard 10.6 had a very useful heading of “search for” with the catagories “all images, all movies, all documents” on the far left side of the finder window. That heading and the cooresponding catagories have been eliminated from Lion 10.7. I would like to know if they still exist under a different heading and how do I make a new “search for” heading or move or add them to the “favorites” heading that already exists. With Leopard and Snow Leopard I found it very useful when searching for photos and other images on my computer. I now on occasions have to spend an inordinate amount of time searching for a specific photo, image, or movie in the various folders that I have made in the finder.

These were simply smart folders. You've still got smart folders, those are just not there pre-created for you. In this video I talk about re-creating the "recents" ones. But you can do the same for smart folders that list videos, photos, or whatever.

Thanks Gary,
It worked perfectly to give me exactly what I desired.
