How Do I Edit Share Albums?

I have a relative that shares their photo album with me. To date they have 4,333 photo’s and 565 video’s that they are sharing with me. What I would like to be able to do is delete photo’s and video’s that I do not want to keep because they are taking up space on my hard drive and I am not interested in the photo’s. Apple say’s this is not possible because it is not my album. I look at it this way. Someone has an album and then makes a copy and sends it to me. I look at it and there a photo’s I don’t want so I take the page out of my copy and it does not affect their album and I still have the pictures and video’s I want to keep. There has to be a way for Apple to make this possible.

You could always just copy the items you want to your library, then unshare their album. But otherwise, yes, it is their album and you can't delete photos from it.

On the other hand, those items may not be taking up as much space as you think. Since they are in iCloud, if you have "Optimize" turned on, then you probably just have thumbnails for most of them and the full versions download on demand.
