How Do I Keep My Time Machine Backup and Replace the Router?

I’m told by my internet provider that my router is old/slow and is impacting service in my home. I have the Apple Time Machine. Can I get a new router and continue using the Time Machine as my backup? If no, what do you recommend for a router and backup? (I don’t see Time Machine on the Apple Store website).

What do you mean by "I have the Apple Time Machine?" Do you mean you have an external USB drive connected to your router? If so, you should be able to just connect it to your new router, connect to it on that Mac, and continue to use it as before.

Or, do you really mean that you have a Time Capsule? That's Apple's special Wi-Fi hub + hard drive that you can use for a Time Machine backup. Is that independent of your ISP's router? If so, then you should be able to connect it the same way you are doing now.
