How Do I Saved an Unlocked Copy Of a Locked PDF?

After unlocking a locked PDF document in Preview and marking it up, how do I save it as an unlocked document for sharing with others. When is select “Save As” it still saves the document locked. File – “Export as PDF” is shaded & can’t be selected. File – “Export” & selecting “PDF” on the next screen still saves it locked. MacOS Monterey v 12.0.1

I need to save an unlocked, edited version of the locked PDF to forward to others.

Use File, Print. Then click the PDF button and save it as a PDF.

Thanks Gary for such a prompt response. Great suggestion but unfortunately when I use File, Print, the "Save As PDF" option is again shaded. The only live option is "Save As Postscript". I'm starting to think the document has been locked in some different way as I've always been able to save an unlocked copy previously. I've only just updated to Monterey, could this be a factor?

Leanne: There are a variety of settings for protecting a PDF, yes. Sounds like this one prevents printing as well as resaving.

I have used PDFpen for this purpose - it does not seem to be as pedantic at maintaining such restrictions as Preview.
