iTunes podcast “skip when shuffling”

Every day I get a podcast of APM: Garrison Keillor’s The Writer’s Almanac Podcast feed.
Every day I check my playlist to see if there is something that is checked “Skip when shuffling”. I find the new podcast checked, so I go to the podcasts item under LIBRARY, move to the podcast, select the Multiple Item Information, and Options, then check Skip when shuffling to “No” and today’s podcast is changed.
It works today, but not for tomorrow’s podcast.
Actually, there are several new podcasts each day that I have to reset.
The quickest fix is to select everything in podcast and check “no”. But doing this every day is a pain.

I think this is by design. Shuffling is for music. Why would you want to include the podcast in the mix when playing your iPod in shuffle mode? You would get: random song, random song, random song, podcast episode from last week, random song, random song, etc.

This is a computer - why can't I do things my way with it? That's what I *want* it to do.

The design should let me uncheck all future episodes of a podcast instead of doing it one by one.

Apple may have the best default design - but allow customers to do things *our* way when it doesn't matter.

Possibly. But consider that there may be 100 other requests like yours for different ways of using iTunes. How is an interface designer going to allow for 100 new minor features? Lots of menu items, choices, preferences, etc -- it would soon be very hard to figure out how to use the software at all.

I agree that this is an annoying design. Some of us like to build playlists of podcasts and shuffle those too.
