MacMini sometimes just restarts itself. It may be a an issue with the hard drive or it may not be. Can I leave console running, or activity monitor running to figure out what occured just before the restart and diagnose the problem?

I would like to take a small video clip (25MB) and send it to friends via email, however email file attachments can only be 10MB (or something close to that). Is there a utility which will create a multi-file zip archive so I can send a few emails with the zip segments? Also, ... (3 Comments)

Hi, I have a MacBook (late-2008) which is running Snow Leopard. Recently it has been turning on by itself. I have tried re-setting the SMC and re-installed the OS. Could it be due to my new Magic Trackpad?

I’ve noticed on my iPhone 4, on clicking contacts and choosing a contact, I see a little video camera symbol near the facetime button. It’s not there on some contacts on their facetime buttons…

iTunes keeps asking for firewall permission….to accept incoming connections and dammit it don’t ever remember. I selected it in the firewall settings but nothing seems to stick. I think its done it for 6 months now, even after numerous updates. any ideas that ... (4 Comments)

Does anyone use MacKeeper? Is is safe and worth the purchase price? I did a free scan only to find that my MacBook was ‘critical’ in all 3 categories, yet all works fine now. Should I fix or not?

I know that continual resaving of JPG images in an editor such as iPhoto or Elements is bad, resulting in slight deterioration of the image each time. Is there any downside of making Desktop copies of a JPG in the Finder using Option-drag?

What do the numbers after strength mean? Is -90 closer or farther than -40? How is it to be interpreted with respect to geographicly mapping out my wifi range. Im trying to keep my network off the street.

I jus copies a vhs tape over to a mini dv tape so i could capture it on my imovie software.
When i go to cature the footage it records in 1 second chunks
and a menu comes up saying its making thumbnais.

Hi Gary, since my Facebook was loading slowly, I typed in traceroute www.facebook.com in Terminal to see how many hoops my request had to jump through… the terminal doesn’t stop…after few lines of ip address it keeps typing * marks.. what is the key to kill the ... (1 Comment)

Hi Gary – Do you still recommend the freeware “Time Machine Editor” to override TM’s annoying hourly backup schedule? I see that the most version is dated 2009. Anything newer or better in your opinion?

I keep on getting error 401 and can’t upload.
I can export the video to a hardrive then upload to youtube, vimeo, facebook but can’t share the video from imovie.
