Safari Slow to open web pages

Since an update a few weeks ago, Safari has been megaslow going to web pages after I click on a link. Chrome is not, but has other issues that make me not want to use it.
So…I’m wondering if I delete Safari and reinstall it, is there any likelihood of an improvement. Are other people complaining about this slowness on Safari? It’s not a problem with my wifi because I use the same wifi with my iPad, and don’t have the same problem, pages open lickety split.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

I'd try clearing your cache, cookies and history and see if that helps. I'd also turn off any extensions you have added to see if that has any effect.

I have found Safari very slow, compared with Google Chrome, always. Also, Safari, which I used on the Macbook and my pc, freezes more than Alaska, and I have to shut down to get it cleared and start again. Not worth while for me, so I use Google. Google has its quirks, but even a pc/Mac dummy like me can handle the frustration with more even temper than I can with the repetition of Safari problems. For all its technical savvy, I have always thought Apple should have better than Safari. I really believe they don't care otherwise they would have acted.

OMG, I just turned off the few extensions I had installed, and bingo, faster than a speeding bullet. I might as well not have had them on anyway, because they kept disappearing off the toolbar and then I would have to turn them off and back on again to use them. By that time, I could just do whatever manually faster anyway.
