You mean the symbols usually used to represent those keys in documentation and books?
Use the Character Viewer. (See episode 78: http://macmost.com/typing-special-characters.html)
Make sure you select "View" for "All Characters" at the top. Then look for the set "Technical Symbols" under the "Symbols category. You'll see them all there, and more.

I am using a MacBook pro with Max OS X Lion 10.7.5. an am using Microsoft Word 2011 for macs. I have tried numerous online video tutorials and advice, but none of the options have allowed me to find a way to type in the Mac command key symbol. Any suggestions?

Did you follow the steps in my initial reply at the top of this page? If so, at which step did you have trouble?
