What Can I Use for Time Machine Backup?

I just upgraded my Mac book to Snow Leopard version 10.6.8 and have discovered Time Machine. I have an old (2004) iomega Mini Max desktop hard drive with 250MG. It’s formatted for Mac/PC. Will it work or give me problems?

You need to use a drive that is dedicated to the task. So the format now doesn't matter, as it will be reformatted when it begins its life as a TM drive.
But you should probably get a newer drive, one with more capacity. Drives are cheap these days with 1TB drives going for less than $100 and 2TB drives not far behind. Heck, 500GB drives are under $50. Why risk your backups with a small 7-year-old drive?
