What Is the Best Connectivity Option for LG Monitor?

Planning to buy LG 27ud58b monitor. It has both hdmi and display port. What is the best way of connecting to Mac book pro retina mid 2015 model?

Definitely DisplayPort. Always use DisplayPort over HDMI. DisplayPort is made for connecting computers to screens. HDMI is more general for connecting TVs to video devices, etc. At the very least, you'll get the same options when using DisplayPort as you do with HDMI. But more likely you will only get the full set of resolutions and options using DisplayPort.

What are the cable requirements from thunderbolt to DisplayPort? There is no such cable available.

Sidickk: Which Thunderbolt port do you have? Thunderbolt 3 is a USB-C port. Thunderbolt 2 is the exact same as Mini DisplayPort. So if you have the second, you just need a plain Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable. Maybe one even comes with your display. I know LG packs them with at least some of their screens.
If your MacBook has the newer Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port, which I'm guessing it does since I think the 2015s had them, then you need USB-C to DisplayPort cable, as long as the description mentions Thunderbolt 3. A search on Amazon turns up a bunch of those immediately.

Thanks a bunch Gary. Mine is early 2015 model, don't have USB-C. I will go with the mini display port to display port.
