Will Apple Be “Pushing” the Mojave Upgrade To Unsuspecting Users?

When App Store Preferences include “Download/Install Newly Available…etc” — will Mojave be “pushed” to those users resulting in the installation of a new upgrade without specific permission to do so from the user? I understand that it might be downloaded, but also “installed?”

Apple has never pushed major updates to the operating system to anyone. You usually get some notifications that it is available, but you have to go through steps to initiate the download and installation.

I can't say for 100%, because only Apple knows for sure. But if it is like every other major macOS update of the past, you will need to take action to install it when the time comes.

I was alerted to this website -- https://tidbits.com/2017/11/15/apple-starts-pushing-high-sierra-on-unsuspecting-mac-users/ -- which seemed to indicate the possibility of new upgrades being "pushed." Thank you for your reply.

Jan: There's a pretty misleading headline on that article. If you read it it says that a notification is sent and you have to accept it. I'm also pretty sure you have several more chances to confirm you wish to update before you actually do.
