Hey guys, before I submerge my toes into Mac-waters, I was wondering if anyone could tell me how hard drives substantially differ between Macs and PCs, in general (for the functionally computer illiterate). You see, I have never had any problems with my HDs before I bought my ... (1 Comment)

Seems like everyone wants to figure out how to make a better news app. News360 is certainly a contender. It seems to bring in news from a ton of sources, and customizes to your interests. There is also a new exploratory mode that lets you see a collage of images and perhaps find interesting stories that you might have otherwise missed. Also good is the fact that to read full articles you get shown the original web page. So you don’t miss anything and the app respects the publications’ rights as well.

Reports this week show Apple getting closer to releasing a new OS for the iPhone and iPad, and new features for Mac OS X Lion. Rumor sites are reporting on a new developer release of iOS 5 with only bug fixes, showing that Apple is almost finished with development. In addition, a new version of Mac OS X Lion, version 10.7.2, with iCloud support has been seen, and a new developer version of iTunes with iTunes Match enabled has also been reported. There are also rumors floating around that some of the new iCloud features may be supported in Snow Leopard with an update to that OS.
It is expected that iOS 5 and Lion 10.7.2 will be released simultaneously because both will hook into iCloud, Apple’s network syncing service that replaces MobileMe. The expected release date for iOS 5 and iCloud is “the fall” which could be any time starting at the end of this month.

New in Lion is the ability to set a custom desktop color without having to first create a solid color graphic image. If you go to System Preferences, Desktop & Screen Saver, Desktop you can choose Solid Colors from the list on the left, under the Apple category. There you will see a few sample colors. But you also have the Custom Color button at the lower right. Click that to choose any color from the color picker.
