A new feature of Amazon Echo devices is that they now support Apple Music. Previously, you could use a number of music streaming services with Echo devices, but Apple Music was left out. With Echo dots being so inexpensive, this allows Apple Music users to hear their music in many places without needing a Bluetooth speaker or Apple HomePod. You can now ask Alexa to play your Apple Music songs, albums, and playlists. You can even make Apple Music your default service.
Doris: Alexa can already do podcasts, with no connection to anything Apple. There are Alexa "skills" for this, but also some native functionality. Do a web search and you'll come up with some instructions.

I’ve been waiting for this for 3 years now because Amazon Music doesn’t allow us to upload our own music anymore but Apple Music already integrates with iTunes so we can play any song we have in our iTunes library on the Echo

Very useful but it doesn't seem to available in Europe (The Netherlands) yet. Hope it comes through.

Does this also work with Sonos One speakers with the integrated Alexa?
Thomas: Try it and see. I read that some third-party Alexa devices don't support everything that Alexa does, and that Apple Music won't work on those now, but may in the future.

It would be much nicer if I could connect my music library in the iCloud to echo without paying for the Apple Music service at $9.99 per month.

I have been steaming my iTunes Library via Bluetooth connection, ever since my uploaded music was removed from my Amazon Music. Since I’m a Prime Member, I don’t pay a monthly music subscription except 99 cents to iTunes for music match.

Hi Gary. I went and bought an echo dot today. Tried to stream Apple Music through it but is not available in Australia. Doesn’t come up on the link music in settings
Can Alexa play my podcasts as well?

Marina: Currently only in the USA. Hopefully it will roll out in other countries soon.
