You select multiple messages in the Messages app on a Mac the same way you select multiple files in the Finder or a list pretty much anywhere. Click on one message, then Command+Click on other messages to select them. Or click on one message and then Shift+click to select another and the whole range in between. Then press the Delete key on your keyboard to confirm and delete those messages in the conversation.
I just tried doing the procedure outlined above, but to no avail!
Still can only select one message to delete at a time.
Please, help!
TheTrainRev: So you are looking at the Messages from a conversation. You click on a message. Does it highlight? The highlight makes it look a little lighter than normal. Now hold the Shift key down and click on the Message right above that one. Both should be highlighted now. Then press the Delete key on your keyboard.
Did that work? If not, which step failed?
Sadly... no luck here as well. Tried everything I could think of, but it looks like one at a time is firmly baked in. For the record, I'm running Messages Version 12.0 (5500) & Mojave 10.14.6.
Bob: Weird, as I can definitely do it. Messages 12.0, Mojave. Here's a screen capture:
