The symbol was picked by Steve Jobs to replace the Apple keys for the original Mac. It has a history that goes back before computers though. You can type it if you know a little something about that history.

By default your iPhone saves photos as HEIC files. These are compressed images, like JPEG files, but will use less space on your iPhone, Mac and iCloud. You can easily convert these to JPEG files when you need to. Your iPhone also saves video files in HEVC format.

If you want to include the full path to the document in Pages when printing or making a PDF, you can add it to the header or footer, or use the watermark function. But first you'll need a way to get the path as text.

If you store important information in your Notes app, you'll want to make sure it is backed up. Since notes are stored as a database, not individual files, you'll need to use multiple methods to insure you can recover information in different situations.

The path bar at the bottom of Finder windows allows you to see the path to the current selection and also allows you to perform a number of actions on all of the folders in that path. The status bar shows the number of items selected, the number of items in the folder and the amount of space remaining on your drive.

Smart Folders are a great way to help you organize your notes in the Notes app. You can use Smart Folders with tags to create your own system to find notes.

There's not much new in Sonoma 14.4. But we do get the same Podcast transcript features that are in iOS 17.4, even if they don't seem to work as well. We also get new Emoji and a small new thing in Safari.

Take a look at some of the new features like follow-along Podcast transcripts and new Emoji. (17.4 also allows for new things for EU users, like alternative app stores and web browsers, though none exist yet).
