A new feature in Pixelmator Pro lets you import PDF files with layer support. So you can then go in and hide layers or even change things about each layer. You can use this to grab parts of PDF files or remove text and so on.

When my new iPhone 15 Pro Max refused to work with my car's wired CarPlay, I discovered that it is fairly easy and inexpensive to add a gadget that gives you wireless CarPlay.

The Spotlight Menu adds some handy new features in Sonoma, including the ability to add contacts and calendar events, search for objects in videos, and switch Focus modes.

Got my iPhone 15 Pro Max and it is a good phone. However I have one major problem and a couple of annoyances. Hard to be really excited about it because of that.

In macOS Sonoma, Freeform has two improvements that make it easier to quickly create large diagrams or flowcharts. You can turn on a connection lines mode to quickly connect a lot of items with lines. You can also change a shape once it has been placed.

macOS Sonoma and iOS 17 allow you to add links from notes to notes in the Notes app. This lets you basically create little mini "wikis" in Notes. Better still, I found you can do things like share these notes with others and the links still work, mix in links to other things, and use these links to create links INTO Notes from the Desktop or other types of documents.

Sonoma changes a few things in both the simple Keyboard dictation and Accessibility Voice Control dictation. Gone is the floating button, there are better ways to correct words, and it is better at finding alternate words and there is now a tutorial.

Been keeping track of the new things in iOS 17 for the iPhone and created this list. In the (long) video I go through it with my thoughts and showing some of the features. If you need to search a site for text as you are writing, this Shortcut will cut out many steps. I use it all day long to get links to my own videos.

It is frustrating that there is no easy way to select a folder and get a list of folders and files with indentations to show which files are in which folders. But with TextEdit and a couple of Replace All commands, you can do it.

A new Mac feature coming to Sonoma later this year could make typing a lot easier for some of us.

The Preview app doesn't really have layers like other image editing apps. But you can kinda simulate them with some creative use of copy and paste.

You can adjust the amount of space available for app icons in LaunchPad by using a pair of Terminal commands.
