Here's my big list of all of the new features in macOS Sonoma. I go through the list with commentary and showing some of my favorites.

Sonoma changes a few things in both the simple Keyboard dictation and Accessibility Voice Control dictation. Gone is the floating button, there are better ways to correct words, and it is better at finding alternate words and there is now a tutorial.

Here's a summary of today's announcements including the new iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2.

Been keeping track of the new things in iOS 17 for the iPhone and created this list. In the (long) video I go through it with my thoughts and showing some of the features. Attached is the list in RTF form in case you want to use it when you upgrade your iPhone. I expect iOS 17 to come out later this week or next.

Learn how to minimize windows and when it can be useful. See how minimizing works with Full Screen windows, Stage Manager and app switching.

If you need to search a site for text as you are writing, this Shortcut will cut out many steps. I use it all day long to get links to my own videos.

It is frustrating that there is no easy way to select a folder and get a list of folders and files with indentations to show which files are in which folders. But with TextEdit and a couple of Replace All commands, you can do it.

I use the Apple Keyboard with the numeric keypad. Why? Lots of good reasons!

A new Mac feature coming to Sonoma later this year could make typing a lot easier for some of us.

The Preview app doesn't really have layers like other image editing apps. But you can kinda simulate them with some creative use of copy and paste.

8/15/23

You can adjust the amount of space available for app icons in LaunchPad by using a pair of Terminal commands.

8/12/23

A new feature coming to Mac and iPhone soon is Personal Voice. This is where you can go through a process and record your voice. It then becomes a Siri-like voice you can use in Live Speech to type-to-talk. This can be used in place of a microphone in most apps if you can't speak or are in a situation where you can't use a mic.

8/5/23

With a simple Shortcut you can record your home IP address and save it to a Note that you can access from anywhere with iCloud. A little more work and it can run hourly to keep up with any changes.

A new feature coming to iOS 17 lets you see transcribed text live as someone leaves a voicemail, and you can interrupt and answer the call.

7/29/23

After using the Studio Display for more than a year, I like it and haven't really had any problems. It has been solid.

7/25/23

If you need to connect more than one object together it can be useful to have a tiny object as a central point. You can also use a transparent object to create some spacing around connection line end points.

7/22/23

You can expand a photo beyond its borders or remove an object using this new beta feature. I'm sure we'll see it in more image editing apps before long.

7/18/23

With iOS 17 you'll be able to use your iPhone as a handy clock and information display while it is charging at night.

7/15/23

Often Mac users create a second Standard account to use every day instead of using their Admin account. Is this necessary or better?

7/11/23

A new way to prevent having lots of little Apple charges to your credit card is to use the Auto Reload feature.
